Welcome to another week of excellent music in the Golden Isles. Here's who I've got playing where through the weekend. Remember that I'm constantly updating if new information comes in, so be sure to check the blog and I'm With the Band Facebook page before you go out.

Noteworthy: The Friday concert with award-winning blues pianist Victor Wainwright at The Club at Bennie's is something very special. A very talented performer in an intimate venue and proceeds going to benefit Hospice of the Golden Isles. Barbeque dinner included in the ticket price. Well worth it! 
On Saturday night, Tipsy's has some more fabulous talent: Dr. Dan Matrazzo & the Looters. Southern rock influence at its finest. And if you want to head up the road, there's a fun little place in Shellman Bluff called JT's Pizza & Subs that just opened its new "Flip Flop Bar." David Lane, the talented brother of our local radio gal, Beth Walters, will be in town doing some of that country-folk-acoustic that he does so well.

Defunk has gigs every night, if you're looking to get your fix. Local bluegrass boys Corn Eyed Trout are playing on the island both Saturday and Sunday. Traveling Riverside Band returns to Gnat's Landing on Sunday night to rock out the close of the weekend.

Live Music Lineup July 17-23

Hey, music lovers! It's new week and we're gearing up for another weekend of great shows. A couple special things to note: Leo Dean is feeling well enough to venture out and join Tony Adams at The Club at Bennie's, so stop by and say hello to the "old gang" on Thursday night.

Friday night Roy Gentry and the Hired Guns rock the house at the new Bottom Feeders (old Oyster Shak). The Stringrays have some special guests joining them at Gnat's Landing that night as well.

Saturday night is BIRTHDAY night! Chris Yates is playing his own birthday bash and celebrating some others at Marshside Grill -- give our favorite local country boy (and  Darin Harlow & Tal Stoddard too) some love. Michael Hulett is celebrating his mom's birthday and playing his last local performance before his vacation at Fireside Cafe. Knuckledown throws Susan Demoss a party for her birthday at Tipsy McSway's! Also on Saturday night, there's a Tom Petty tribute band called "Damn the Torpedoes" at The Club at Bennie's.

On Sunday, Kellie Parr's beautiful voice provides the perfect atmosphere for a Full Moon party on the Rooftop at Ocean Lodge. It's also Jazz in the Park at Neptune Park with Latin Jazz percussionist Sam Rodriguez, if you want to bring the family and a picnic to wind down your weekend. Go find the music that moves you!

Live Music in the Golden Isles 7/10-7/16

Welcome back to the post-holiday groove, everybody. Here's the live music rundown with everything I've gotten so far. As always, there are usually additions or changes, so check the blog or the I'm With the Band Facebook page before you go out.

My suggestions this week? The Higher Choir, who will be at Murphy's doing an acoustic gig Thursday and rockin' out the house Friday and Saturday, sounds absolutely amazing. Solid Gold Thunder has picked up a weekly gig at Tipsy's on Thursdays and they're always a great time. Country boy Chris Yates will be playing during the Grand Opening of Bottom Feeders (the old Oyster Shak), which hopefully will be a great new music venue. This month's Second Sunday at Gascoigne features a highly anticipated Dawn Patrol reunion, the debut of Dave Raczynski's new band, Thunderbird, and a performance by up & comers The Future Electric, who were a big hit at Tipsy's.

Get out there and find the music that gets your hips shakin'!
